A report by the Altoona Mirror indicates that after updating health care projected costs for the new school year, the board announced a reduction of the deficit from $253,000, down to $206,000. All other items in the proposed budget remain the same, but the deficit still remains, and the board is seeking to pass its budget with a 0.4 mill tax increase, which will raise the average tax bill $45. Residents who qualify for homestead/farmstead property tax relief program, will see their tax bills lowered when the budget passes. The budget is set to be voted on next Tuesday.
