WJAC reports that Sandy Twp officials went to court last Thursday and asked a judge to stop merger proceeding in light of the financial situation in Dubois. That situation is the theft of more than $600,000 allegedly committed by former city manager John Suplizio. The Twp in the complaint stated the the consolidation between the two municipalities was based on inaccurate and incomplete financial information. Sandy twp officials say that this merger will not take place until a complete forensic accounting investigation is completed, to find out how bad the theft really is. Suplizio was arrested and charged with the theft back in march.
