The Altoona Mirror reports that 13th district Congresman Dr. John Joyce is happy with the selection of rep. Mike Johnnson of Louisiana to be the next speaker of the house. It took the house more than 3 weeks to find the next speaker, after republicans ousted former speaker Kevin McCarthy, after they inferred that he was acting outside of the house. Johnson was the man chosen after numerous others either dropped out of the running, or were voted down by members of their own party. Cong. Dr. Joyce says the house can now get on with its business, and he is confident Johnson is the right man for the job. He has also been named as speaker Pro Tempore along with 6 others, meaning he could assume the mantle of leadership, if Johnson is not able to fulfill his obligations.
