Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, October 27 through Thursday, November 2.
Halloween is the dominant theme for many of this weekend’s live music events, as Halloween and costume parties are everywhere. Browse the list below to find out the officially-listed Halloween events; but chances are that just about everywhere you show up, there are bound to be Halloween costumes in the house (and perhaps even on the performance stage).
Other events of note this weekend include the latest installment of the “Classic Vinyl Concert Series” at The State Theater of Johnstown on both Friday and Saturday nights, as a cast of Johnstown area musicians will perform two classic albums in their entirety: Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (appropriate for the Halloween season) and Prince’s “Purple Rain.” Saturday’s show is sold out, and just a few tickets remain for Friday’s concert. The music begins at 7:30 p.m. both nights. The State Theater is located at 336 Main Street in downtown Johnstown.
Also happening in Johnstown is The Orchestra – featuring members of the Electric Light Orchestra – performing Friday night at the Pasquerilla Center for Performing Arts on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
