Here is a listing of area live music and online music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, January 19 through Thursday, January 25.
Once again, wintry precipitation arrives just in time for another weekend, with more frigid temperatures to follow. But at least one event on the live music slate has chili and wings to warm things up for a good cause. The Central PA Humane Society’s “Chili Fest & Wings” event happens Saturday evening at Altoona’s Bavarian Aid Society in the upstairs hall. From 5 to 10 p.m., those attending can sample a variety of chilis and chicken wings, with Shallow 9 providing the music. VIP and general admission tickets may still be purchased at the Central PA Humane Society and Thompson Pharmacy’s Altoona and Hollidaysburg locations.
The Unter Uns Musical & Entertainment Society will present a special “Night Out Celebrating the Pennsylvania Railroad” event on Saturday evening beginning at 5:30 p.m. Some PRR memorabilia will be on display, and a special dinner featuring menu items from the Dining Car Cook Book will be served. Music will be provided by Sir Elton Ron. The event is open to members and guests, and tickets are $20 per person.
With Friday’s snowy conditions, consider calling ahead to make sure the music events you want to attend are still taking place. (A few events had been cancelled for Friday night at the time this listing was posted.)
