State Police have charged a Clearfield man with strangling his disabled mother to death in an attempt to claim her life insurance policy and access her bank account. 43 year old David Lombardo was arraigned yesterday on a number of charges including criminal homicide, and strangulation, in the death of his mother, 69 year old Paula Lombardo. State police reportedly responded to a home on East Locust Street in Clearfield Borough on March 15th for a reported cardiac incident. However an autopsy showed the elder Lombardo died from asphyxiation and her death was ruled a homicide. Police noted that David Lombardo “showed no emotion” about the death of his mother and began asking officers when he could receive her death certificate so he could collect her life insurance policy and have access to her bank account. Lombardo is currently in the Clearfield County Prison. Bail has been denied.
