State agriculture officials say they’re actively monitoring reports that Avian influenza has been diagnosed in dairy cows in Texas and Kansas, as well as in Michigan. Shannon Powers, a spokesperson for the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, says no suspected or confirmed cases have been reported in the Commonwealth, but state labs are prepared. She says Pennsylvania is also working with other federal officials to get farmers to report illnesses to veterinarians and ensure they are following rigorous biosecurity measures.
