House Measure for Postpartum Depression Help, Sent to Senate

A measure is now on its way to the state Senate that would expand early intervention services for families whose mothers struggle with postpartum depression. State Representative Danielle Friel Otten introduced House Bill 1593, which passed Wednesday. It would expand eligibility for both children and families who need support services. The American Academy of Pediatrics says postpartum depression can lead to increased incidents of child abuse and neglect and even adversely affect a child’s early brain development.
