A Bellefonte Area School Board member has resigned after he was arrested last week for allegedly striking his girlfriend and pushing her out of a moving car. Fifty-eight year old Jack Bechdel II wrote in a message that his resignation was effective immediately. Bechdel has been charged with a misdemeanor count of simple assault and a summary count of physical harassment. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license. His preliminary hearing is slated for tomorrow. In the meantime, the Bellefonte School Board is accepting applications for Bechdel’s vacancy.
