A Clearfield County man has been sentenced to spend decades behind bars after he had pled guilty earlier to strangling his own mother to death. Last March police arrested 44-year-old David Lombardo following an investigation into the death of his 69-year-old mother. Later, an autopsy revealed the woman, whose body was found in her Clearfield Borough home, died of asphyxiation, and her death was ruled a homicide. Reportedly, Lombardo had confessed to his wife that he killed his mother for a $5,000 life insurance policy. Earlier this week he appeared in court and was sentenced 20-40 years in state prison. Lombardo pled guilty to third-degree murder prior to his sentencing.
