A fire in Logan Township yesterday afternoon left an Altoona man without a home. Fire crews responded to the house fire on Gwin Road yesterday afternoon shortly before 1:30. According to the Altoona Mirror, an elderly man who resided in the home was removed safely, thanks to his cousin, who was passing by the home at the time when he spotted the fire, and two Penn State Altoona students. There are no reports of serious injury, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire severely damaged the home, and two cars were destroyed in the blaze. Firefighters from Logan Township United, along with Lakemont Volunteer Fire Company, Pinecroft Volunteer Fire Company, Greenwood, Excelsior and Newburg Volunteer Fire Companies all responded to the blaze.
