Blair County Commissioners have decertified “Explore Altoona” as the tourism and promotion agency in Blair County. This move makes way for the commissioners to now certify a new tourism agency. With the desertification yesterday, “Explore Altoona” will no longer receive funding from the county’s five-percent hotel bed tax. The commissioners noted the money will still be collected and held into an account for another tourism agency, that will focus on more outdoor activities such as the area’s trail systems, and parks and recreation.
