Nippon Steel Not Giving Up On U.S. Steel Acquisition Efforts

Officials with Nippon Steel are not giving up on efforts to acquire U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh.  The Japanese company’s vice chairman is expected to be in Washington, D.C. this week to discuss the possible deal with members of the Trump Administration.  Their latest plan involves making U.S. Steel a wholly-owned subsidiary.  President Biden previously blocked the sale of U.S. Steel to Nippon, citing national security concerns.  President Trump has said he would like to see Nippon investing into U.S. Steel, but he wants the company to remain under American ownership.
