State Effort Underway To Establish Laws Holding Funeral Directors Accountable For Pet’s Remains

kitty-3

A Pennsylvania lawmaker has proposed a bill that would hold funeral homes accountable for pet cremations.  The proposal all stems from an incident last month in Pittsburgh where a funeral director was allegedly throwing out thousands of remains of family pets, instead of cremating or burying them.  Democratic State Senator Nick Pisciottano has proposed legislation that would keep incidents like this from happening again.  The proposal states this legislation would restore public confidence in the funeral home industry, and help insure that pet’s remains are treated with dignity and respect.  The next step is for the bill to be introduced to both the Senate and House in the next few weeks.
