wrta-logo-sm

A Roaring Spring woman is facing charges of abandoning her two children.  According to state police, 32-year-old Elaine Pilkerton has been charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, after police were called about two boys allegedly being abandoned in their home.  State police in Hollidaysburg report, the boys were left alone in the home from May 2nd through May 16th.  The oldest boy who is 14, and reportedly autistic, apparently went to a friend of his mothers, after they ran out of food.  Police say Pilkerton told authorities she left for three days to cross state lines for work, however the boys reportedly told police she left to go to Tennessee to see her boyfriend.  Police also reported the home the boys were found in was in deplorable condition.  State police say the boy’s father, who lives in Texas was contacted, and their grandmother drove from Maryland to take custody of the children.  Charges against Pilkerton were filed yesterday.  Her arraignment is pending.
