The historic Keplar Barn in Ferguson Township, Centre County, will sadly be taken down after a fund raising effort to save it failed. The barn is owned by Penn State and initially the university planned on tearing it down but decided to hold off after an effort was made to raise nearly $500,000 to maintain the barn. The university gave fund raisers until June 1st to come up with the money, but their efforts were unsuccessful. Reportedly, with the June 1st deadline having passed, Penn State will now consider ways to remove the barn which includes salvaging and reusing some of the materials of the structure. The barn is located along Route 45 just west of Pine Grove Mills. The barn is estimated to be over 200 years old.
