Blair County’s controller, A.C. Stickel of Altoona recently announced his intention to run for the Republican nomination for the state’s 79th legislative district. The seat is currently held by Lou Schmitt, who, during the May primary, was nominated for Blair County judge. Schmitt is expected to be elected in November, and will then take the bench in January. The 79th legislative district represents Altoona, along with Logan and Allegheny Townships.
