An Altoona man is behind bars after he allegedly punched his girlfriend, and struck her 15-month-old child. Altoona Police arrested 28-year-old Dillon Wertz following a domestic incident at a home last Friday. Police say the dispute turned physical when Wertz began punching the woman in the face and head, and then turned his anger towards the child by striking it in the face when the child began to scream. Police further added that after the physical violence ended, Wertz then reportedly refused to allow the woman and her child to leave, and threated to “burn down” the home. Wertz is facing charges that include felony aggravated assault, child endangerment, and making terroristic threats. He has been placed in the Blair County Prison where bail has been set at $500,000. His preliminary hearing has been scheduled for June 25th.
