PA Ranks 6th In USPS Dog Bite List

dog-attack

Pennsylvania is being ranked as one of the top states in which U.S. Postal Service mail carriers are bitten by dogs.  The rankings are part of the USPS National Dog Bite Awareness Campaign, which runs throughout the month of June.  Last year, Pennsylvania had 316 incidents of dogs attacking mail carriers.  That number places Pennsylvania as having the sixth most attacks on mail carriers in the country.  The USPS says dog bite attacks on postal employees are preventable and that dog owners should always ensure their dogs are secure while mail is being delivered.  By the way, the average insurance claim for a dog bite can run as high as $70,000.
