centre-co-sheriff

Two Philipsburg men were arrested after a cat in their care had to be euthanized because of a severe infection that went untreated.  According to the Centre County Sheriff’s Office the two have been identified as 62-year-old Michael Reish, and 59-year-old Seamus Reish.  Each were charged on Wednesday with one felony count of aggravated animal cruelty.   Officers were shown pictures of the cat revealing the animal was missing a large portion of its jaw.  Reportedly, the two did not want to take the cat to a vet because they knew he would be euthanized.  The cat, whose name was Apollo, had to be euthanized due to the severity of his injuries.  Both men were arraigned on Wednesday and were unable to post bail.  They have been placed in the Centre County Prison.  Their preliminary hearing is scheduled for next Wednesday.
