There are reports that the Casino at Lakemont Park will be closing effective July 5th. According to the Altoona Mirror, owner Doug Simon had tried to convince Blair County Commissioners to redirect some of the bed tax revenue, to the Casino, but wasn’t able to do so. The Casino has been a part of the local fabric for generations having been established in 1890. The Casino has hosted many events in the past including wedding receptions. This is a developing story. We will have more information as it becomes available.
