House Passes Burns’ Bill Requiring American-Made Steel For All Tax-Payer Funded Projects

The Pennsylvania House of Representatives has approved a bill introduced by Democratic State Rep., Frank Burns of Cambria County that is designed to benefit U.S. workers by requiring construction work, receiving public funding or tax credits, to use American-made steel.  Under current state law, steel is considered American-made if at least 75% of its raw materials and production occur in America.  Burns said, “This is commonsense legislation that passed near-unanimously.  If tax dollars are spent on a project, then it should be made with American steel produced by workers right here in the United States.”  The bill is designed to end America’s heavy reliance on China.
