Extreme Heat Continues

heat-advisory

Cooling centers remain open in the region as a heat advisory continues through tomorrow evening throughout the state.  Closer to home the heat advisory effects Blair, Bedford, Fulton, Huntingdon, Southern Centre, Southern Clinton, and Cambria Counties.  Here in Blair County the following are open as cooling centers today and tomorrow, where you can go to cool down and hydrate.  They include the Salvation Army at 1813 6th Avenue in Altoona.  The hours are from 10-6.  You can also stop by Blair Senior Services in Altoona, Tyrone, East Freedom and Williamsburg.  Hours there are 8-4, except for Williamsburg where the hours are 9-2.  Finally, Church of the Good Shepard in Tyrone is also opening its doors as a cooling center today and tomorrow from 1-4 in the afternoon.  To stay safe in this extreme heat, make sure to stay cool and hydrated.  Also, limit exposure to the sun, and spend time in air-conditioned places.  Also be mindful of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and watch for symptoms like dizziness, confusion or nausea.
