More than 5,000 homes and businesses in the State College area were without power yesterday afternoon as temps climbed into the mid-90s. The problem reportedly occurred when a transformer blew on the 1300 block of West College Avenue in Ferguson Township near Pine Grove Mills. As of 8:00 last night, most had their power restored.
