The Blair County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple reports of residents receiving phone calls from a male caller identifying himself as a Deputy with the Blair County Sheriff’s Office. The caller claims that a missed jury duty, missed witness, or outstanding warrant appearance has been missed, resulting in an arrest warrant being generated for the recipient. The caller provides instructions on how to handle the warrant by paying a dollar amount. The caller is also using a smart phone application that disguises the number to show its coming from the Blair County Sheriff’s Office. The Blair County Sheriff’s Office is reminding everyone that these calls are a scam, and the law enforcement agency will never call and present an option to settle any outstanding filings or warrants. They stress, never give out money, and never give out your personal information if you get this call. If you do receive such a call, please contact your local police department.
