Altoona Police report that three individuals are facing drug charges after they responded to a trespassing incident that allegedly uncovered illegal drug related materials, along with heroin, fentanyl, and methamphetamine. The incident occurred on Tuesday at a residence on the 1400 block of 18th Avenue. Once there, authorities arrested, 38-year-old Brenda Helsel, 46-year-old Michael Makarikas, and 45-year-old Joseph Hillard. Police report that Helsel’s two children were also at the residence. All three were arraigned on Tuesday afternoon and face numerous drug charges that range from possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and other related counts. All three have been sent to the Blair County Prison in lieu of bail. They are to face a preliminary hearing on July 2nd. Helsel’s children were released to other family members.
