A packed hearing room heard details about a natural gas-fired power plant that will be built in Homer City in Indiana County. It would be the largest such plant in the country. More than 600 people attended the hearing at the Kovalchick Athletic and Convention Complex at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The plant would power artificial intelligence and data centers in the region. The question asked most often was about the role of local labor for the project. Developers say they’ll use local labor for the construction. Hiring is expected to begin by fall.
