A Johnstown family who lost two children in a fire two years ago, after claiming a prosthetic arm, used by another family member, caused the deadly blaze, has filed suit. The Jeanjaquet/Slovensky family is alleging negligence and product liability against nine companies. Reportedly, one family member lost an arm in 2018 and was fitted with what is called a “Boston Digital Arm.” The limb is powered by a lithium battery, which requires charging. Two years ago this month the family’s home, located in Westmont Borough, caught fire, resulting in the deaths of 22-year-old Grant Jeanjaquet, and 14-year-old Vindy Kohan. The lawsuit alleges that sometime during the night, while the arm was charging, the lithium battery caught fire, due to an alleged defect, trapping them inside their home. The family is reportedly demanding a jury trial.
