PA To Install New Weather Monitoring Stations

wrta-logo-sm

The state of Pennsylvania is planning on installing 30 new weather stations across the commonwealth, allowing meteorologists and emergency officials the ability to better track flooding and severe weather.  The weather stations, which are to be installed by this time next year, will help in providing the public more timely alerts.  This upgrade is part of an ongoing effort between the state, Penn State University, federal agencies, and local schools.  The network upgrade, which is called the Pennsylvania Environmental Monitoring Network, is being completed by Penn State.  The weather stations will primarily be located on school properties across the state, in 38 counties.  The exact list of those 38 counties hasn’t yet been released by the state.
