A 17-year-old Nicktown girl was killed yesterday morning after the car she was riding in crashed in Barr Township, Cambria County. According to Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees, the teen has been identified as McKenna Gardner, who was about to enter the 11th grade at Northern Cambria High School. Reportedly, there were four people in the car at the time of the crash, with one being flown to the West Penn Burn Center, and two others taken to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown. State police report the car was traveling north on Nicktown Hill Road, when it went off the road, struck an embankment, then struck a utility pole. Coroner Lees reportedly said Gardner was in the backseat when the accident occurred, and was ejected from the vehicle, over guardrails and down an embankment. Police report the car finally came to rest where it was fully engulfed by flames. State Police are investigating the accident.
