Hello Everyone,
Here is the recap of the July 13 edition of “The Homegrown Rocker,” which airs every Sunday night from 8 to 10 PM on Q94 Classic Rock (www.q94classicrock.com), and from 10 PM to midnight on 107.1 and 101.3 Jack FM (www.1071jack.fm)!
For our latest program, we presented the 2025 edition of the “Cover Song Special,” where we explored how area musicians cover, interpret and re-imagine songs created by other (mostly famous) musicians. Again, we saw a wide array of genres and songs covered; including numbers from The Smithereens, The Record Company, John Mayer, John Lennon, Ani Di Franco, Triumph, U2, Aretha Franklin, War, Blondie, Dave Mason/Joe Cocker and many more. And we heard fresh and inventive spins on established classics, such as Buffalo Rose’s folk/bluegrass blending of songs from The White Stripes and Eurythmics, Mike Urick and the Modelaires’ funky horn-driven take on a Creedence Clearwater Revival classic, The Kilmaine Saints’ Celtic-rocking take on an Animals blues classic, Antonio Andrade’s (and friends’) workout on a B-52’s hit and more. (For those who missed the program, a four-part podcast of this show is available for listening or download from Q94’s website, www.q94classicrock.com. Click on “The Professor’s Classroom,” and then scroll down to “Homegrown Rocker Podcast” and look for the four show segments marked with the date, 071325.)
