Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro attended Ag Progress days in State College yesterday. While there the governor stressed his administration’s commitment to agriculture, in building the economy in the state. He told the crowd that economic growth within the commonwealth was focused on farmland and rural communities. Nearly 132 billion dollars is added to the state’s economy because of agriculture. He reportedly was also asked about the closing of Rockview State Prison in State College, and the Quehanna Boot Camp in Clearfield County. Earlier this year the Department of Corrections announced that the two facilities may be closed, and a decision was to be announced in either May or June. When asked about those closings Shapiro reportedly said the Department of Corrections was continuing to work through the process. He also stated that every corrections officer, and those working within the department will continue to have work.
