A judge has ordered a temporary freeze on the PBM Express Scripts’ plan to terminate its contract with Martella’s Pharmacies. The termination of the contract was to have started today. On Friday, local leaders filed a class-action lawsuit against PBM, as well as Highmark and UPMC insurance companies. This issue came to light several weeks ago when hundreds of Martella’s customers received letters from Express Scripts, telling them they would soon need to find another pharmacy to fill their prescriptions. The lawsuit accuses Express Scripts of violating patients’ rights. An injunction hearing is slated for Wednesday afternoon.
