FDA Warns Against Eating Possibly Radioactive Shrimp From Walmart

Walmart has recalled frozen, raw shrimp, sold in 13 states, including Pennsylvania, because the FDA says it could have potential radioactive contamination.  The agency issued the warning after Customs and Border Protection alerted the agency about possible Cesium-137 contamination, a radioactive isotope, from shipping containers.  Frozen shrimp from the distributor has tested positive, but the FDA says no shrimp that has tested positive has entered the U.S. food supply.  Walmart immediately recalled the products that include the Great Value Brand frozen raw shrimp with lot codes of 8005540-1, 8005538-1 and 8005539-1, all with best buy dates of March 15th, 2027.   Consumers should discard the product, or return it to any Walmart for a refund.
