Local Family Honored For Preserving East Broad Top RR

broad-top

A Huntingdon County family was honored on Saturday for their pivotal role in preserving the East Broad Top Railroad.  Honored was the Nick Kovalchick family who bought the railroad company in 1956 and maintained and protected the railroad for nearly 60 years.   In 2020, the family transferred ownership of the railroad to EBT Foundation Inc., a non-profit organization that has been committed to restoring and operating the landmark railroad.  The East Broad Top Railroad is America’s oldest operating narrow-gauge railroad.
