A Clearfield County man, Kris Nevling, has been found guilty in federal court of conspiracy to maliciously destroy property by explosive or fire, and possession of an unregistered destructive device. The verdict, delivered yesterday after more than four hours of jury deliberation, connects Nevling to the 2019 death of 34-year-old Shanna Carlson. Prosecutors argued throughout the trial that Nevling possessed the capability to construct the homemade explosive device used in the incident, which resulted in Carlson’s death due to the explosion and subsequent fire. Nevling had testified earlier in the week, denying any involvement, and maintaining that Carlson was “one of his best friends.” Clint Addleman, Nevling’s alleged accomplice, and the suspected “mastermind” of the explosion, has not yet faced a jury. Nevling is scheduled for sentencing in late January.
