A Powerball ticket worth $500,000 was sold at Giant Food Stores in College Township, Centre County, for the Wednesday, September 3rd drawing. The ticket included the Double Play option and matched the five Double Play balls drawn, but not the Powerball number. The Double Play option costs $1 extra and gives players a chance to win up to $10 million in a separate drawing. The winning ticket was one of 11 sold in Pennsylvania that collectively won $2.4 million in the drawing. Other Pennsylvania prizes included a $1 million ticket sold in Allegheny County, and nine $100,000 tickets sold across the commonwealth. Following the drawing, the Powerball jackpot rolled over and is now an estimated $1.7 billion for tomorrow’s drawing, with a cash option of slightly more than $770-million. This marks the third-largest Powerball jackpot in history.
