A former day care employee in Centre County was arrested yesterday for allegedly taking sexually explicit photos of children at the day care facility she worked at, and then shared them through an internet messaging app. Arrested was 44-year-old Shannon Ishler of Bellefonte. She was charged with five felonies including child sexual abuse. The investigation was triggered by threatening messages and explicit photos that were then sent to the daycare center. The investigation uncovered explicit images of children and extortion related documents on the employee’s phone, which was traced to a Nigerian-based WhatsApp account. Ishler reportedly told police she had gotten herself involved in scams through social media. Ishler is in the Centre County Prison. Her preliminary hearing is set for September 17th.
