Thousands of people are expected to attend this year’s September 11th commemoration ceremony on the 24th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks. The National September 11 Memorial & Museum in New York, will hold its ceremony on the Memorial Plaza. Family members of the victims killed on 9-11 will be on hand to participate in the reading of the names. As always, six moments of silence will be held during the ceremony to mark the times each tower was struck and fell, along with the times of the attack on the Pentagon, and the crash of United Airlines Flight 93 in Shanksville, Somerset County, Pennsylvania. There will be a memorial service this morning at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, beginning with a Moment of Remembrance at 9:45 at the Memorial Plaza. During the observance, the names of the 40 passengers and crew members whose plane went down there, will be read aloud with the ringing of the Bells of Remembrance, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the Wall of Names. The event will be live streamed via the memorial’s YouTube page.
