Sunday hunting started in the state yesterday. Following the signing of a new law by Governor Josh Shapiro in July, Pennsylvania now permits hunting on Sundays, repealing a longstanding ban. This legislation expands opportunities beyond the previous limit of three Sundays per season, allowing the Pennsylvania Game Commission to approve all Sundays for hunting between September 14 and December 7, adding 10 extra hunting days this year. Sunday hunting is allowed during any established hunting season, with the exception of migratory game birds. Therefore, migratory birds currently in season, like Canada geese, doves, rails, and gallinules, cannot be hunted on Sundays.
