A Schellsburg couple has been jailed in Bedford County in lieu of bail, following a child abuse and drug investigation. Joel Evans and Ember Blackstone, both 28, are accused by state police of repeatedly using marijuana in the presence of their three young children, and one little girl reportedly being beaten with a belt for wetting herself. Investigators say one of the children told them they saw Blackstone “blow smoke” into the face of a four-month-old infant. After searching the home, troopers found marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Evans and Blackstone have been charged with felony counts of endangering the welfare of children, and other related counts. Their preliminary hearing is slated for September 24th.
