The Altoona Water Authority is addressing seepage cracks in the new concrete spillway weir at the Bellwood Dam by injecting a specialized sealant. The dam’s contractor is expected to cover the repair costs for the work, which authority officials deemed “unsatisfactory.” Reportedly, the cracks and seepage are not a threat to the structural integrity of the weir. The nearly $25-million dollar dam project was completed last year.
