Former Blair County Commissioner, and Altoona City Councilman Theodore “Ted” Beam Jr. has died at age 73 after a battle with heart disease. Beam, was an Altoona native, who served as an English teacher and the city’s Director of Public Safety, and was involved with Penn State athletics. A private memorial service will take place tomorrow at Stevens Mortuary in Altoona. Public visitation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m.
