An ultralight aircraft crash in a Young Township, Indiana County, cornfield has claimed the life of an Altoona man. The body of 75-year-old David Wittmer was discovered yesterday morning after he failed to return from a flight the previous evening. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, Wittmer took off from a field in Young Township on Wednesday night, but never came back. His aircraft was located around 10:30 a.m. yesterday by a volunteer pilot assisting in the search. First responders were directed to the crash site, where Wittmer was pronounced dead. State police have stated that the incident is being investigated as an accidental death.
