Shutdown Continues

The partial shutdown of the federal government enters day three.  Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle continue to blame each other for the impasse with Senate Majority Leader John Thune calling the shutdown “stupid.”  Meanwhile, President Trump and the head of the Office of Management and Budget Director are looking at which agencies they can make cuts from during the shutdown.  In the meantime, a Pennsylvania Congressman is among lawmakers asking for their pay to be withheld during the government shutdown.  Republican Representative Dan Meuser, who represents the state’s 9th congressional district, said on social media, that if the military isn’t getting paid, he won’t either.  Other federal lawmakers refusing their paychecks are Republican Senator Ted Cruz, Democratic Senator Andy Kim, and Republican Representative Elise Stefanik.
