An historic Centre County building was destroyed by a fire that broke out early yesterday morning. Firefighters from Centre and Union counties responded to the blaze at the Woodward Inn on Route 45 in Woodward shortly after 2:30 a.m. According to emergency officials, crews were on the scene for several hours, but the flames were so extensive that the building was deemed a total loss. The Woodward Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. No injuries were reported, though one firefighter fell through the floor, but was confirmed to be okay. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
