A national pharmacy chain formerly headquartered in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, is officially closed. Rite Aid confirmed it has closed all its stores after financial struggles, bringing an end to more than 60 years in business. The chain was based in East Pennsboro Township for decades before moving to Philadelphia in 2022. Last year, the company operated over 12-hundred stores across 15 states from California to Vermont, and had planned to keep stores open and sell off assets in an effort to maintain prescription services for customers.
