A hazmat team was on the scene yesterday morning at the Peoples Gas building in Pittsburgh. Authorities say the hazmat team was called to the scene after an employee opened an envelope which contained an unknown white powder. About 300 employees sheltered in place while crews tested the substance which later turned out to be flour. Despite the harmless nature of flour, Pittsburgh Police spokesperson Cara Cruz described the envelope as a possible terroristic threat of sorts citing past events where unknown substances were sent through the mail. Normal operations reportedly resumed when the building was cleared around 10:00 yesterday morning.
