Windber Borough will soon allow All-Terrain Vehicles on its roads as part of a new, county-wide trail initiative to boost tourism. The decision follows a Windber Borough council meeting in late September, where community members and business owners expressed strong support. Proponents believe the measure will increase local business traffic. Windber is not the first municipality in Somerset County to make this change. Meyersdale, Berlin, Indian Lake, and several other boroughs and townships have already passed similar ordinances to open their roads to ATV traffic.
