Longtime Windber head football coach Matt Grohal is resigning from his position following this season. The move comes after the district concluded an internal investigation into an alleged hazing incident involving multiple players. School officials stated during a private meeting with parents that Grohal was “not at fault” and that no coaches were alerted to the allegations, which have led to juvenile criminal charges against two players. The district expressed its gratitude for Grohal’s 25-plus years of service and is already working to improve adult supervision in athletic areas. Following the conclusion of this year’s football season, assistant coach, Frank Tallyen will take over.
